Understanding nucleon structure using lattice simulations
نویسنده
چکیده
This review focuses on the discussion of three key results of nucleon structure calculations on the lattice. These three results are the quark contribution to the nucleon spin, Jq, the nucleon-∆ transition form factors, and the nucleon axial coupling, gA. The importance for phenomenology and experiment is discussed and the requirements for future simulations are pointed out. Progress in hadron structure physics on the lattice∗
This is a review of progress in hadron structure physics from lattice QCD. Recent results on the structure of the nucleon and the pion in terms of (transition) form factors, moments of distribution amplitudes and (generalized) parton distribution functions are presented. These observables allow us to investigate a number of fundamental physics questions related to e.g. the distribution of charg...
متن کاملChiral extrapolation of nucleon properties from lattice QCD
Lattice QCD on one side and chiral effective field theory on the other are progressively developing as important tools to deal with the non-perturbative nature of low-energy QCD and the structure of hadrons. At present, however, there is a gap between the relatively large quark masses accessible in full-QCD lattice simulations of nucleon properties and the small quark masses relevant for compar...
متن کاملCalculation of the nucleon axial charge in lattice QCD
Protons and neutrons have a rich structure in terms of their constituents, the quarks and gluons. Understanding this structure requires solving Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). However QCD is extremely complicated, so we must numerically solve the equations of QCD using a method known as lattice QCD. Here we describe a typical lattice QCD calculation by examining our recent computation of the nucl...
متن کاملTheoretical Foundation of the Nuclear Force in QCD and its applications to Central and Tensor Forces in Quenched Lattice QCD Simulations
We present full accounts of a method to extract nucleon-nucleon (NN) potentials from the Bethe-Salpter amplitude in lattice QCD. The method is applied to two nucleons on the lattice with quenched QCD simulations. By disentangling the mixing between the S-state and the D-state, we obtain central and tensor potentials in the leading order of the velocity expansion of the non-local NN potential. T...
متن کاملPartially-Quenched Nucleon-Nucleon Scattering
Nucleon-nucleon scattering is studied to next-to-leading order in a partially-quenched extension of an effective field theory used to describe multinucleon systems in QCD. The partially-quenched nucleon-nucleon amplitudes will play an important role in relating lattice simulations of the two-nucleon sector to nature.
